Yahoo Answers - Resolved Questions
- Resolved Question: Are you more bothered by John Hughes death than M.J.? - I am. His movies shaped a generation and were classics that'll never be forgotten. Yes, M.J.'s music was great, but I think more people were affected by John Hughes' movies than Michael's music. RIP John Hughes. :-( Maybe some of the brainless 14 yr olds on here should Google John Hughes' name before you ask "Who is he?" Only one of the most influential directors of teen movies, that's all.
- Resolved Question: Do you believe that John Hughes' death didn't get much exposure? - I personally do cause many of his movies were those I grew up watching
- Resolved Question: How do you feel about John Hughes' death?
- Resolved Question: John Hughes death director of classic 80's movies which was ur fave? - I was so shocked to hear he died today, I was just watching a biography of him the other day, I loved Ferris Beullers day off, Pretty in pink, and loved Molly Ringwald she is an 80's icon, my all time fave was the breakfast club which was yours ?????? He wrote and directed the breakfast club, I am going to watch it tonight in dedication what a sad loss, and he created the teen queen Molly Ringwalds career she is devastated too, RIP JOHN HUGHES you will be missed. I totally forgot about home alone they were great films only with macaulay though I had the biggest crush on Matthew Broderick back then, and sixteen candles was a great one too I thought Judd was hilarious in breakfast club

TODAYs Natalie Morales looks back at his life and career. John Hughes Biography (19502009) Director, writer. Born John Hughes, Jr. on February 18, 1950, in Lansing, Michigan. Hughes graduated from Glenbrook North High School in Northbrook, Illinois, in 1968. After spending his youth in Detroit, he moved to Chicago, Illinois, with his family at the age of 13. Hughes and his family lived on the outskirts of a wealthy suburban neighborhood, which created a sense of loathing toward the rich. Hughes dropped out of college his junior year, and returned to Chicago to begin his career as an ad copywriter. The piece later became the basis for the film, National Lampoon's Vacation (1983). The film became a major hit, putting Lampoon back on the map. NEW YORK - Writer-director John Hughes, Hollywood's youth impresario of the 1980s and '90s who captured the teen and preteen market with such favorites as "Home Alone," "The Breakfast Club" and "Ferris Bueller's Day Off," died Thursday, a spokeswoman said. He was 59. Hughes died of a heart attack during a morning walk in Manhattan, Michelle Bega said. He was in New York to visit family. Jake Bloom, Hughes' longtime attorney, said he was "deeply saddened and in shock" to learn of the director's death. A native of Lansing, Mich., who later moved to suburban Chicago and set much of his work there, Hughes rose from ad writer to comedy writer to silver screen champ with his affectionate and idealized portraits of teens, whether the romantic and sexual insecurity of "Sixteen Candles," or the JD Salinger-esque rebellion against conformity in "The Breakfast Club." Hughes' ensemble comedies helped make stars out of Molly Ringwald, Anthony Michael Hall, Ally Sheedy and many other young performers. He also scripted the phenomenally popular "Home Alone," which made little-known Macaulay Culkin a sensation as the 8-year-old accidentally abandoned by his vacationing family, and wrote or directed such hits as "National Lampoon's Vacation," "Pretty in Pink," "Planes, Trains & Automobiles" and "Uncle Buck." "I was a fan of both his work and a fan of him as a person," Culkin said. "The world has lost not only a quintessential filmmaker whose influence will ...From: SNAKEEYESSAMViews: 1652
