- Resolved Question: Do you think there would have been any problem with what the NYPD did to Abner Louima and Michael Mineo if....? - If Both men were homosexual, do you think anybody would've objected to what the NYPD did to the two men putting a plunger and baton up each suspects rear ends? I ask because if the NYPD could prove both were homosexual they could've proved that both men enjoyed getting the respective foreign objects shoved up their rear ends. Anyway Im just wondering if anyone thinks there would've been a trial had both Louima and Mineo been homosexual.
- Resolved Question: Should Sgt Crowley have given Prof Gates the Abner Louima treatment? - As a liberal Harvard professor he probably would have enjoyed it. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abner_Louima Blue Ring: I am the real Jared and I am blocking you now. ha ha
- Resolved Question: Why do people reference Rodney King so much, haven't they heard of Abner Louima?!? - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abner_Louima See if you can read that whole thing without feeling sick. @Voice of Reason - Wow, you have really shown me the light. Cops work hard and lay their lives down, they DESERVE to sodomize a suspect with a plunger once in a while, guilty or otherwise. Because police officers themselves are WAY beyond the law, or even the boundaries of common decency, right? You must love watching The Wire. And what's with all the postings of black violence against whites? Who said this had anything to do with race?! I'm talking about police brutality here, total abuse and violation from people who are supposed to be our protectors, and some people here would like to refocus the issue on incidents of racial hate crimes that have nothing to do with officers of the law.
- Resolved Question: Would African Americans riot a Rodney King or Abner Louima scenario if the Cops were also African American? - I ask because where I grew up African Americans were killed by police under questionable circumstances all the time but that 3 out of 4 times the cops who did it were also African American. I know there is a special hostility that exists between African American cops and African American criminal suspects but also notice that as long as the cops are African American it seems, Al Sharpton, the NAACP, Jesse Jackson, and various NOI organizations dont care if theres police brutality. Anyway Im just wondering if an African American is brutalized by an African American cop would African Americans riot?

Such brutality, however, is part of a long history of the NYPD. Has there been a mainstream media blackout? I watch ABC Nightly News nearly every night and have not seen anything. Have you? As Occupy Wall Street demonstrations enter their second week, over 80 people were arrested over the weekend and police brutality surges on the streets. Many protesters say the mainstream media is undergoing a black-out since many corporate networks sleep in the same bed with Wall Street. The Blue Shield of Silence In 2009, Leonard Levitt, former NYPD beat correspondent for Newsweek, wrote "NYPD Confidential: Power and Corruption in the Country's Greatest Police Force." In it, he chronicled over twenty years of dirty cops, department scandals, and institutional corruption, including numerous cases where police brutality was swept under the rug, including the 1999 shooting of Amadou Diallo and the brutal torturing of Abner Louima in 1997. Such cases occurred over twenty years ago, remnants of what the 1994 Mollen Commission called "today's corruption... characterized by brutality, theft, abuse of authority and active police criminality."
